THE BIG GREEN TRAIL IS BACK!

At the Big Green Trail, there’s plenty on offer to entertain, inspire and connect people with nature and local green projects.

Get to know different organisations and local community groups involved in the trail, coming together to celebrate their projects and put on engaging activities for everyone to get involved with.

Visit our trail stops to join in with these activities and make sure to collect a stamp booklet from one of the locations so you can collect your stamps as you visit each place on the trail and complete the booklet!

Westcountry Rivers Trust: Take on the inflatable obstacle course and learn more about how to reduce flooding and support healthy ecosystems.

Climate Action Plymouth: Take a quiet moment to write a climate-inspired Haiku for Hope and have your say by voting on the issues most important to you.

Plymouth Sound National Marine Park: Meet the team and enjoy free science, art and history inspired activities celebrating Plymouth’s unique marine environment.

Plymouth Energy Community: Have a go at an interactive energy game and get friendly, practical advice on saving energy at home.

Plymouth Food Waste Recycling Team: Learn about the new Food Waste Recycling service with fun interactive recycling games and practical advice on how to recycle your food waste at home.

Ocean Conservation Trust: Get up close to fascinating ocean artefacts and take part in games and workshops exploring marine life and ocean sustainability.

Sew on the Road & Plymouth Scrapstore: Visit Winnie the community sewing van and get creative with hands-on activities that bring together repair, reuse, recycling and play.

Bikespace: Bring your bike along for a free Dr Bike safety check and minor repairs to help keep you riding safely.

Plymouth Bike Hire: Have a go on the electric recumbent trikes suitable for a range of abilities.

Devon Wildlife Trust: Learn more about local wildlife, habitats and conservation through information, advice and practical tips.

Real Ideas: Get creative with activities including Our Story with David Attenborough and printmaking pledges exploring people’s connection to nature and climate action.

Precious Plastics: Pedal‑powered recycling in action! See how plastics can be shredded, remoulded and turned into new products using an exercise bike recycler.

RSPB: Find out about different habitats at an interactive wildlife stand, explore RSPB badges based on UK wildlife and learn about conservation projects and nature reserves.

Connected Kerb: Discover electric vehicle charging with Chameleon charge points and chat to the team about Connected Kerb’s work with residents and communities.

Connect Plymouth: Help contribute to a community map of active travel as well as learn about Beryl e-bikes and carsharing with Car Club.

Food Plymouth: Learn about food, local projects and composting with lots of fun and games, including their favourite ‘welly wanging’ competition.

Plymouth Citybus: All aboard the Chatterbus to have a chat, get advice and information as well as take part in colouring activities and giveaways.

Art & Energy: Observe and sketch moss while learning its importance in nature

Climate Choir: The choir will be doing three special performances of climate related songs at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm.

By foot – Central Park is a 20 minute walk from Plymouth Railway Station and a 30 minute walk from Royal Parade, City Centre.
By bus – To help people get to Central Park, Plymouth Citybus is running a free hop-on, hop-off bus along the trail route. Head to Royal Parade, George Park & Ride or Milehouse on the day to grab the Trail Bus. See the bus timetable below for timings and locations. Please refer to Traveline if you need further help planning your journey.
By bike – For those cycling, there are bike loops available for securing your bicycle throughout the park. On the day of the Big Green Trail, Beryl will be offering one free ride (20 minutes of riding plus free unlock) per person with no code required. There are Beryl bike bays located nearby at Plymouth Life Centre.
By train – The closest local train station is Plymouth Railway Station.
By car – If you are driving, consider car sharing. Follow Google Maps for Milehouse Park & Ride carpark for parking. There is also an electric vehicle charging station available in Mayflower Drive B Car Park.
