About Event

Plymouth is celebrating Catch the Bus Month with an information and conversation event in the city centre on Tuesday 16 September.

Catch the Bus Month is organised by Bus Users UK to champion bus travel and show the vital role it can play, from boosting the local economy to keeping communities connected and helping protect the environment.

The theme for this year is ‘Love the Bus’ and the Council and local operators (the Plymouth Enhanced Bus Partnership) are inviting people to go along and share what they love most about their buses, as well things they think could be done to encourage more bus travel.

The event will take place on the Armada Way piazza from 10am to 4pm and people can drop in at any time to hop aboard the buses on display and chat with staff from the Council, Plymouth Citybus and Stagecoach South West about the work being done to improve the city’s bus services.

Local company All Things Dotty will be there to talk about ways that bus travel can be improved for people with visual impairments, along with the Community Builders from the Four Greens Community Trust, who will talk about their work to tackle challenges people face in accessing different services.

Catch the Bus Month poster competition

To celebrate Bus Users UK’s Catch the Bus Month campaign, the Plymouth Enhanced Bus Partnership (the partnership between us and Plymouth’s bus operators) is launching a poster competition.

This year’s theme is ‘Love the Bus’ and they are keen to hear about why you love travelling by bus, to celebrate Plymouth’s bus services and encourage more people to give the bus a try.

When does it open?

The poster competition is open from 10am on Tuesday 16 September 2025 until 5pm on Thursday 16 October 2025.

The best designs will be featured on their website from November 2025.

How do I enter?

They accept both digital and physical poster entries for this competition.

All entries should be A4, portrait posters and in a format that can be scanned/photocopied.

You can submit a hard copy by handing it in at the Plymouth Citybus Travel Centre on Royal Parade.

Or you can submit a digital entry by email to BusPartnership@plymouth.gov.uk.

Alongside your submission, please provide your name and contact details (email address and telephone number). If a child would like to enter, we ask that their parent or guardian’s contact details are provided.
