About Event

Join us for our May Climate Mingle at The Boathouse on the Barbican, where we’ll be exploring how Plymouth’s maritime sector is responding to the climate challenge, from ports and freight to electric boats and circular innovation on the water.

This informal, free networking event brings together people from across Plymouth to connect, share ideas and hear from two inspiring local speakers ⚓🌍

⚓ Ports, Freight & a Changing Harbour

Richard Allan, Cattewater Harbour Master, will share insight into the role of Cattewater Harbour in Plymouth’s transport system, including:

🚢 The materials shipped through the port
🚛 How shipping can help reduce goods vehicles on local roads
🧭 The port’s long‑term strategy and future direction
⚡ The challenges of electrification in a working harbour
⛴️ Existing low‑carbon initiatives, including the Mount Batten electric ferry

This talk will highlight the important role ports play in reducing emissions and supporting a more sustainable, resilient transport network.

What to expect:

✅ Insight into ports, freight, ferries and electric vessels
✅ A relaxed evening of networking with climate‑focused people and organisations
✅ Time to ask questions and share ideas
✅ Drinks available to purchase from the bar
