Biggest climate achievement to date

By measuring and monitoring our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions using Science based
Targets and being accredited with the Future Net Zero Standard we are able to evaluate
and consider initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint.

We have seen a 40% increase in staffing levels and have opened 3 new office locations since 2021. As our business grows our overall carbon footprint may rise in the short term, however we have
seen a 11% reduction in our carbon emissions per employee from 2022-2023 through our
efforts to improve efficiencies to working patterns, introduced electric pool car, EV charging points and reductions in business mileage which makes up the bulk of our carbon footprint.

Most difficult climate challenge faced

As a company that provides professional services the bulk of our carbon footprint is made up of emissions from commuting and business travel. Whilst efforts are being made to reduce this, many areas and sites we need to attend have poor connectivity limiting our options away from car travel. However, we see this a s a medium term issue as the UK transitions to move away from fossil fuel transportation.

Our biggest influence is over the projects we work on and the greatest difficulty is raising the performance and quality of design beyond regulations to achieve Net Zero buildings which ultimately provide reductions in heating bills and more pleasant environments to both live and work. Many clients are now seeing the benefits of this, particularly through passive design and fabric first approaches to enable buildings to be Net Zero ready.

Best climate advice or tip for others

Engage with your team, staff, workforce. We hold an annual Green Week that enables us to provide updates on our Net Zero journey and progress as well as improving climate literacy with staff and technical information. It allows the whole company to get together and discuss the issues and really buy into the process.
