We are a Collaborative Music Project based in Plymouth focusing on making relaxing music suitable for meditation, yoga, music therapy and healing.
About our climate journey
We are changing the way we make, record and produce music in order to reduce the energy used when undertaking such activities. Sound recording and music production for example often requires a significant amount of time involving the usage of various electrical equipment such as Computers, Monitors, Audio Speakers, Digital Effect Units, Amplifiers, etc. We have gradually started to shift towards the so call DAWless method of recording music and working towards completely ditching the usage of a PC and power hungry equipment during this process and the process of producing and mastering our music.
Not using a computer for sound recording and production is a great challenge, but we have made some changes to our processes which have greatly reduced the time spent mixing and mastering a record using a PC. Our main achievement so far is the transition from a multi track recording to a dual channel (stereo) recording. Instead of recording each instrument individually, we play all instruments at the same time, the same way it was done in the early years of sound recording when multi-track tape recorders were not invented yet.
This achievement on its own have completely changed the way we make music. We are hoping to achieve one day a net zero process for recording and producing our music and powering all of our essential equipment from a renewable energy sources.
