Literature Works
Organisation Bio
We are a charity in South West England using words and stories to support creativity and wellbeing. Our aim is to open up the flexible literature artform of poetry and story, creative writing and reading as widely as we can to the benefit of all. We champion the power of storytelling, writing and reading in all forms.
Our vision is to cultivate high quality literary talent in the South West, developing the region as a culturally rich landscape, where barriers are removed, diversity is celebrated and opportunities are abundant; where the power of literature is applied to enrich lives, strengthen communities and enhance wellbeing.
Our incubator, Seed Bed, nurtures, connects and champions grassroots community projects that focus on environmental themes explored through literature. It provides small grants of up to £500 for grassroots initiatives exploring the issues through creative words and stories. It’s part of our contribution to exploring and highlighting the climate and ecological crises through an urgent, creative and hopeful lens.
About our climate journey
As a small organization covering a large region, we limit our use of private vehicles and maximise the use of public transport. We are exploring opportunities for environmentally responsible mini-touring and digital delivery in our programming.
