What we provide
In 2020/21 we commissioned Art and Energy, through the Cultural Investment Fund, to reflect on their unique technique for using creativity to tackle the climate emergency. This work led to the development of the Art and Energy ‘Compass’, a model of best practice for creative climate action.
We will partner with Art and Energy from 2023-2025 to develop and deliver a programme for creative organisations based on the Compass model. This will consist of an art and energy action learning collective, community engagement workshops and a digital platform to share best practice. This is a unique opportunity to connect the creative sector to the energy and other sectors for innovative and wide- reaching change.
The programme has 3 strands – 1) Developing a creative sector with green credentials by collectively working towards a net zero and environment positive position for culture in Plymouth 2) Supporting creative practitioners to deliver new impactful projects with knowledge and confidence of the climate emergency and 3) Connecting Plymouth to a national network of art and energy partners to replicate the model.

About our climate journey
As a very small organisation that shares a work space a few days a week, and mostly works from home, our first challenge was to find the right carbon emission calculator to measure our impact. As from 2023, being a National Portifolio Organisation that receives funds from Arts Council England, we have began to use the "creative climate tools" created by Julie's Bicycle in partnership with ACE. We are hoping that this carbon calculator designed for the cultural sector, will help us record, measure and understand the impacts of our activities in the years to come and allow us to take further environmental actions in areas we have not explored before.
