The Art and Energy Collective
Organisation Bio
The Art and Energy Collective is a group of artists, tinkerers, researchers, scientists, makers based in the South West.
We inspire creativity and empower people to take action for a brighter greener future, in the face of the climate emergency
In addition to individual creatives we also love to work with energy communities and community groups, schools and universities, families and groups of friends, businesses and industry… we believe that the Climate Emergency affects us all, and that we are strongest when we work together and sharing knowledge and resources. Although our core team are based in Devon, UK, we love to collaborate with people far and wide.
Product/Services
What we provide
Mass participation artworks - We design and deliver creative projects that invite people to begin to think and talk about responses to the climate emergency. We take inspiration from nature, using metaphor and poetry to create an attractive invitation which focuses on hope and positivity, empowering participants to take steps towards a better future. We design multiple ways in so as to ensure accessibility, where possible we put free resources on our website so that individuals and groups can join in independently, adding their small part to a larger artwork.
Energy artworks - We create artworks inspired and connected to energy systems. We see energy as holistic, from the sun and plants photosynthesising, to the food that gives us energy, and man-made energy sources such as power stations and solar panels. Our relationship with energy is central to how we respond to the climate and ecological emergencies. In 2018/19Art and Energy created the UKs first ever solar artworks - artworks with integrated solar cells that generate useable electricity.
Workshops, courses and gatherings - We listen to communities and bring people together through creativity. We love to work cross-sector, encouraging and facilitating the sharing of knowledge and instigating new collaborations.
About our climate journey
We set-up in 2018 with an explicit focus on climate.
We know that every activity has some environmental impact - we work hard to balance this against the positive impact for participants and the environment.

Art and Energy have developed a new Utopia tool, designed to help you navigate the path toward a brighter, greener future by tapping into the transformative power of creativity.
