Young people invited to help shape the UK’s climate and nature policies

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is inviting young people from across the UK to apply for its new Youth Climate and Nature Panel, a national initiative designed to ensure young voices help shape future climate and nature policy.

The panel will bring together 15 young people aged 16 to 25 from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences to provide insight and advice to government, strengthen engagement with young people, encourage collaboration between generations and help amplify youth voices on climate and nature issues.

The initiative forms part of the Government’s wider commitment to involving communities in the transition to net zero and ensuring that climate and nature policies reflect the views and priorities of future generations.

Applications are currently open for young people, particularly those aged 16 to 18, with DESNZ also working alongside partner organisations to ensure the panel reflects a diverse range of perspectives from across the UK.

Participants will have the opportunity to influence discussions on issues including climate change, nature recovery, access to nature, clean energy, sustainable food systems, green jobs and the transition to a more sustainable future.

Applications close on 11 September 2026.
