This month we are celebrating one whole year of Connect Plymouth, which saw the launch of Beryl e-bikes and electric charging for vehicles in Plymouth, with an all-electric car club to be introduced at the end of the month.  Just a year after the launch and we’re already seeing the benefits!

Beryl e-bike riders have travelled over 230,000kms across the city. That’s Lands End to John o’ Groats 165 times, or riding the Tour de France 66 times! Not just that, but all journeys by Beryl e-bike replaced 26% of Plymouth’s usual vehicle use, and 55% of people who used the service are now cycling more regularly.

The electric vehicle chargers provided by Wenea have been popular throughout the city delivering enough power that an average EV could drive over 415,000km, the equivalent of going around the world 10 times.

As we adapt to a changing world in which we see the effects of climate change on a daily basis, schemes like Connect Plymouth helps us to reduce our community’s carbon footprint, and provide vital tools to protect and improve our health and wellbeing.
