Cycle to Work Day takes place on August 7th providing the perfect time to get moving on two wheels.

Cycle to Work Day is all about a sustainable commute, regardless of whether you are an active cyclist or trying to get back in the saddle. We all know the negative impact of too many cars on the road, so this national celebration is the perfect reason to shake off the doubts and give it a go.

Who knows? It might not make you a contender for the Tour De France, but you could love it enough to make it a habit.

So, what’s the big deal about Cycle to Work Day?

Cycle to Work Day gives an opportunity for people of all skill levels to try riding to work and feel the benefits for themselves.

Even better, there is no right or wrong way to take part. The invitation is there to help you to take the route that suits you and your life the most, from riding the whole way in, to hopping on for the last mile, or even riding to your nearest train station, it all counts.

So leave the pressure in your tyres, not on yourself.

Why Cycle to Work Day matters

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s no secret that the planet could do with fewer car journeys, so replacing a few trips with a bike can make a big difference, and it doesn’t just stop there. Yep, it’s what we already know, but here is your reminder that getting outside and riding can also do some serious boosting for your health, your wallet and stress levels.

  • It’s healthier: Regular cycling reduces your risk of heart disease, improves fitness, and can pick up your mood.
  • It saves money: With rising fuel costs and parking fees, cycling is one of the most affordable ways to commute.
  • It’s better for the environment: Fewer cars means less congestion and lower emissions, especially in busy urban areas.
  • It’s fun: Genuinely. Feeling the breeze, skirting the traffic jams, and discovering new routes. Cycling can turn your commute into something you actually enjoy. Can you believe it?

Don’t have your own bike?

No problem. This is where we come in. In Plymouth you can pick up an e-bike from one of our bays and give it a go. With Beryl, you can leave us to sort out the maintenance, just unlock, and ride.

Enjoy 10 free minutes to take the scenic route or simply smooth out your commute. Apply code SCENIC10 to your account and get 10 free minutes to use on August 7th.

How to get involved:

  • Commit to ride: even just for one day.
  • Encourage a friend or colleague to join you.
  • Plan your route in advance, apps like Google Maps (cycle mode) can help.
  • Tag us in your ride – we love to see it!

And remember, it’s not about doing it perfectly. It’s about starting. Leave the aero helmets and Lycra to the professionals and just give it a spin.
