The Net Zero Exchange is a collaborative project between businesses and researchers aiming further the Great South West’s goal of becoming the first net zero region in the UK. Launched this week, the exciting two-year project is being led by the University of Plymouth.
Building on Low Carbon Devon’s success, this ambitious project aims to employ a whole systems approach that will connect businesses, enterprises and researchers from a wide variety of industries. By doing so, the Net Zero Exchange will create a coordinated action plan to cut carbon emissions across the Great South West (Devon, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall).
So how does it work?
Businesses, researchers and enterprises of any size and sector who have joined the Net Zero Exchange are able to access a free online platform, the Net Zero Exchange Network.
Here, projects can connect and collaborate with relevant partners on net zero research initiatives, solutions development strategies, and engagement and training opportunities.
The next Net Zero Exchange event, “Net Zero Solutions: Kickstarting Your Collaboration”, will take place on the 31st January 2024.
In addition to providing access to potential partners through the Net Zero Exchange Network, a fund of up to £7500 is available to support research collaborations.
The University of Plymouth are leading the Net Zero Exchange as part of our pledge to create a sustainable campus that reduces environmental impacts. One of our goals is to “enable learning about sustainability and to pioneer research solutions to the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges”.
By establishing a platform based on collaboration and community, the project creates a knowledge exchange between industry and academia that is vital in the decarbonisation of the south west.
