For two Plymouth residents, Ros and Vicky, cycling had become a challenge. Vicky hadn’t cycled in years, and Ros was managing arthritis. But with the help of Beryl e-bikes, they were able to rediscover the joy of riding together.

“We’re going to be able to go much further today,” Ros said. “Perhaps have a coffee when we get to the other end and have another couple of hours together.”

The electric assistance made the ride easy and enjoyable, opening up new possibilities for those who might struggle with manual bikes. “We wouldn’t have done this without the Beryl bike today,” they reflected.

This story highlights how inclusive transport options can support wellbeing, social connection, and climate-conscious travel – all while making cycling feel effortless.

Ros and Vicky were able to enjoy free use of the Beryl electric bikes through the social prescribing scheme. To find out more, visit the Connect Plymouth website.
