Residents and visitors can enjoy free bus travel every weekend throughout September thanks to a new initiative from the Plymouth Enhanced Bus Partnership. Anyone starting their journey within Plymouth can travel free on participating local bus services on every Saturday and Sunday during the month.
The offer applies on:
- 5 & 6 September
- 12 & 13 September
- 19 & 20 September
- 26 & 27 September
Whether you’re visiting friends, exploring a new part of the city, heading to work, enjoying a family day out or simply trying the bus for the first time, September is the perfect opportunity to leave the car at home and see where the bus can take you.
The initiative follows the free children’s bus travel scheme in August and forms part of wider efforts to encourage sustainable and affordable travel across Plymouth. It also coincides with Catch the Bus Month, a national campaign celebrating the important role buses play in connecting communities, supporting local economies and helping reduce emissions.
Choosing the bus can help reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality and lower carbon emissions, while saving money on fuel, parking and vehicle costs. For many people, it can also be an opportunity to discover how convenient public transport has become.
As part of Catch the Bus Month, local partners will also be hosting a public event on Armada Way Piazza on 12 September, where people can find out more about bus services in Plymouth and share their thoughts on public transport in the city.
