Making Plymouth more fruitful

All Ways Apples is a partnership project that has been connecting people with their local community orchards and growing spaces since 2010.

We encourage people to try locally grown varieties of apples and appreciate fruits that are not ‘perfect’ (as found in most shops) but ones that are still fragrant, tasty and nutritious.

An important part of our work is to educate people on planting the right fruit trees and bushes in the right places, how to care for them and how to use the fruit and crops creatively. In addition to this, we also host seasonal ‘on tour’ events in community orchards, green spaces and other venues around Plymouth and an annual Apple Festival in Devonport Guildhall every October.

Multiply this across the city throughout the autumn season and it will make a huge difference!

Every autumn we harvest and press apples that might otherwise go to waste and the resulting fresh juice is shared or preserved by freezing or pasteurising. So, if you are in the fortunate position of having too much fruit to manage, we want to hear from you!

Our work helps with the nature and climate emergency by:

• promoting the creation and care of wildlife friendly spaces and places in the city
• reducing pollution through transport by promoting using local produce
• preventing food waste and the carbon emissions by preserving seasonal crop abundance
