Description
Generous Earth is a new partnership project that promotes and enables community composting and provides a way of sharing ideas, tips and know-how on composting on any scale.
We support gardeners and growers who are interested in improving their composting skills, engaging in practical activities and sharing what they know/how they approach composting.
Much of the soil in Plymouth is thin or degraded but we can repair our soil by using resources wisely which are often regarded as ‘waste.’
We are well-positioned to support a wide variety of organisations including schools, community groups and businesses to find the best ways to transform ‘waste’ from gardens, grounds and the food system into nutritional live compost to grow lots of healthy food and benefit wildlife.
We are engaging with the nature and climate emergency and reducing CO2 emissions by:
- encouraging the essential mindset shift from ‘waste’ to ‘resource’
- reclaiming and recycling green, brown and food waste as a valuable resource
- creating sustainable soil conditioners locally to reduce the use of often unsustainable composting mediums such as peat
