Zero-emission electric buses arriving in spring

A fleet of 50 electric buses will be rolled out in Plymouth this year as part of a major collaboration between Plymouth Citybus, Plymouth City Council, Cornwall Council, and the Department for Transport.

The investment marks a big step towards a greener, cleaner and healthier city. Twenty-five of the buses are due to arrive in Plymouth in the spring, with the rest of the fleet reaching roads by the end of the year.

The news coincides with publication of Plymouth carbon emissions, which see transports contribute the lion’s share, with 34%. To reduce transport emissions, the city must switch to more sustainable travel options, of which accessible and sustainable transport is one.
